FAQ
1. What exactly does California Document Prep do?
We provide self-help legal document preparation. This means we type, organize, and format your court documents based solely on the information you provide.
We do not give legal advice, tell you what to file, or represent you in court.
2. Are you attorneys?
No. We are a Registered and Bonded Legal Document Assistant (LDA) service.
LDAs can prepare documents at your direction, but we cannot advise, recommend, or interpret the law.
3. Can you tell me which forms I need?
We cannot choose forms for you.
However, once you tell us the forms you want, we will prepare them quickly and correctly.
If you're not sure which forms you need, many clients:
-
Search their situation on Google,
-
Check the court’s self-help website, or
-
Review the instructions on Judicial Council forms
— then return to us once they know what they want typed.
4. What areas do you serve?
We prepare documents for clients anywhere in California.
Document exchange is done securely through phone, email, and online upload.
5. How long does it take?
Most jobs are completed within 2–4 business days depending on the complexity.
Rush service may be available depending on workload.
6. What’s included in the flat-rate price?
Every service includes:
-
Professional document typing
-
Organizing your forms into a clean, court-ready packet

One round of minor edits (same scope)
-
Secure email delivery
7. What is not included?

-

8. How does payment work?
You receive a firm written quote, then a digital invoice.
Payment is required before document preparation begins.
We accept:
-
Debit / Credit
-
Zelle
-
Cash App
-
Apple Pay
(Whichever you prefer to integrate.)
9. Do you offer refunds?
Because document preparation is labor-based, all payments are final.
If an error occurs because of our typing, we will fix it at no charge.
10. Do you help with bankruptcies?
Yes — typing only, entirely at your direction.
You choose your chapter and exemptions.
We simply type the petition, schedules, and declaration based on what you provide.
11. Will you file the documents for me?
No. But we give you filing instructions so you know what to do next.
12. Are my documents confidential?
Absolutely.
We handle all client information with strict confidentiality and discretion.
13. How do I get started?
Click Start My Documents, complete a quick intake, and we’ll send you a quote.
